Over 500 Students Made For A "Standing Room Only" Event At Carlmont High School
When we at Carlmont High School began planning our screening of Call and Response, we set our goal to attract 100 students to come see the film. On the day of the screening, after weeks of preparation and advertising, Carlmont's 500 seat theater was full! Students and parents of all backgrounds had their pictures taken at the SlaveFree photo booth and stopped by the human trafficking information table in the lobby, and listened to speaker Kevin Kim, a pastor from Open Door Church in San Mateo, after the film. The movement spurred by this screening is already forming at Carlmont - students and teachers alike are beginning to take action to become a part of the modern-day abolitionist movement.
