Call + Response/Slavery Footprint is a division of the Fair Trade Fund, Inc. We are a non-profit organization whose goal is to generate awareness and deploy action for the issues of forced labor, slavery, and human trafficking.

We're looking for some passionate people to join our team. Each applicant must be a current student enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited university. Internships are unpaid; school credit is available. Interns should be able to commit 10 to 20 hours per week, on average. The exact dates of the internship will depend on each student's availability.

Graphic Design Internship →

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the conception and execution of projects across several media including, but not limited to: print, web, and video.
  • Assist in the design of printed materials, post illustrations, web banners, and screen designs for www.callandresponse.com
  • Perform basic administrative duties – phones, mailings, errands
Skills & Requirements:
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator, and InDesign
  • Strong graphic design and typography skills
  • Interest in editorial design, print and online media

Communications/Social Media Internship →

Responsibilities:
  • Keep on top of human trafficking news and information sources.
  • Research current events in human rights, human trafficking and forced labor/slavery.
  • Create weekly blog for Social Media Manager
  • Recognize individuals of influence for Call + Response / Slavery Footprint
  • Daily writing/postings of blog posts on the C+R website
  • Update Slavery Footprint's various online profiles and measure their impact
  • Actively participate in and initiate conversations on modern day slavery websites
  • Market and promote events online.

Chain Store Reaction Internship →

Chain Store Reaction connects consumers with companies. As consumers we are the last link the supply chain. We need to work with companies to implement change. Together, we are building demand in the marketplace for SlaveFREE standards in products we use everyday. Companies need to hear how much consumers care about forced labor in supply chains.
Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with C+R community in the suggestions and building of Chain Store Reaction list
  • Communicate with companies to encourage their response to the issues of Chain Store Reaction

Student Organizing Internship →

Responsibilities:
  • Research and build relationships with student groups across the country
  • Assist in maintaining our database of student Ambassadors and Campus Challenge activities
  • Assist the Director of Impact with implementation of the community outreach initiatives
  • Assist with the logistics associated with our traveling Slavery Footprint booth
  • Represent Slavery Footprint on campuses in the Bay Area, as needed
Background & Skills:
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written (writing sample will be requested)
  • At least two years of academic course work preferred
  • Previous experience doing volunteer work, either on campus or with another community organization
  • Familiarity with basic office software: Google Mail and Calendar platform; Excel; Word. Comfortability with mac-based platformed preferred

Responsibilities:
  • Write content for external communication, as it relates to the work of the Department of Impact
  • Help write and design collateral for our campaigns (High Schools, Universities, Faith-Communities, Etc)
  • In collaboration with our Communications team, create and distribute materials to empower students to more effectively spread the word about Slavery Footprint
  • Collect stories of individual student actions, to be highlighted in external communication
  • Help manage direct communication with campaign participants
Background & Skills:

  • Assist with modifying communications material for each faith community (Protestant, Catholic, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, etc)
  • Assist in maintaining our database of faith communities
  • Assist the Director of Impact with implementation of the community outreach initiatives
  • Assist with the logistics associated with our traveling Slavery Footprint booth
  • Represent Slavery Footprint, when needed, at faith-based events.
