About Call+Response Projects:

The Call and Response film is a catalyst to engage the public in fighting human trafficking. In it, we graphically portray the state of modern-day slavery, and call our audience to respond to it. Our goal is to inspire the public to support high impact efforts by effective organizations.

By mobilizing and then connecting human and financial resources to partners already working on the front lines of the issue, and then by measuring and reporting the tangible results of that funding, the film will enable the public to respond to the issue in an appropriate and high-impact way. It is this outcomes-based change that we believe will result in the reduction of slavery. Thus, the Fair Trade Fund has created “Response Projects” with well-established partners organizations such as Not For Sale, International Justice Mission and Free the Slaves. These organizations authenticate the projects of their partners working in the field, and ensure the legitimacy of each partner. Submissions are accepted from any interested 501(c)3 organization, and Response Projects are chosen based on a cost-benefit analysis of their potential for impact on the reduction and prevention of slavery and care for its victims. Each project has a requested monetary amount needed to achieve the goals set therein which is then promoted to the public for communal funding. We work hard to make sure that each dollar is necessary for the set goals and that each dollar is used well for that purpose. Once the funding goal of a project is achieved, the partner organization is responsible for due diligence to achieve the expressed goals of the projects using the financial donation. Furthermore, the organization is responsible for submitting impact reports to the community of funders (the “Responder Team”) for that project on a timely and regular basis.

Projects are categorized based on the area of human trafficking that they address. They may be placed in the queue for child slavery, sexual slavery, child soldiering, or forced labor. While a program may create impact across these categories, the Fair Trade Fund attempts to most appropriately place each project so that responders may choose an area of interest about which they most care.

Furthermore, we are a part of the Responder Teams! Since we operate as a 501(c)3 organization, 100% of the profits generated by the film are also directed toward these projects.

Frequently Asked Questions about Project Donations:

What happens to my money when I make a donation?

When you make a financial contribution to a project, your donation is processed by our authorized payment processing center. It is then conglomerated and directed toward the funding goal. Each month, the total amount of money donated is transferred to the partner organization carrying out the work to achieve the goals set by the project. To ensure that the partner has indeed used this money for this work, we require them to return to their Responder Team an impact report explaining what they have accomplished as a result of the funding.

What happens to my personal information when I make a donation?

When you donate to a project, your name, billing address, email address and credit card information are sent to our third-party credit card vendor (authorize.net). Neither the Fair Trade Fund or any of our vendors have access to your personal credit card information. Your personal information is not sent to the partner organization leading the project.

To learn more about the privacy of your personal information, please see our privacy policy here.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Yes, all projects posted on the callandresponse.com website are tax-deductible. The Fair Trade Fund (owner of callandresponse.com) and its partner organizations are 501(c)3 organizations making all donations to projects or to the Fair Trade Fund tax-deductible for U.S. taxpayers to the full extent permitted by law.

How do I know when my project has been fully funded?

Each project page will show the percentage of the funding goal that has been accomplished, and what has yet to be done. As a team, the Responders for that project will receive an update email once their project has been funded. Responders may also choose to remain anonymous or to opt-out of further communication.

How can Call+Response give away 100% of its profits?

The Fair Trade Fund is able to give away all of the profits from the film because it is generously supported by private donors and family foundations that believe in the cause. As a non-profit, we operate on a very small budget and ensure that as much money as possible goes to fight trafficking.

How do I make a donation to Call+Response?

Because we give away all profits from the film and the surrounding projects, we are grateful to the generosity of supporting Call+Response to further and to expand its mission. If you would like to make a donation to Call+Response, you may do so online via credit card or personal check.
